Rhyse Winder!

We are excited to announce the arrival of Rhyse to our family! She has already been a sweet addition to our crew and has helped to bring unity and love and joy to our home. Rhyse was born three days late (doesn't sound like much, but it felt like an eternity to us) after lots of prayers and jogging from all of us to help speed up her arrival. Kjirsti was here for a wonderful stay, but had to leave just hours after we went into the hospital. We arrived in the hospital around 11pm and I was quickly admitted because of my advanced stage of labor. I had decided to get an epidural which they began and we got going. Rhyse was born at 2:38 and was immediately pronounced "big" and "blue". She was very bruised and puffy and after only a brief hold they took her to the corner to suction her.
As you can see in this picture they gave her some oxygen and did lots of suctioning. All in all they suctioned 22cc of fluid out of her lungs. THough the epidural certainly changed the labor experience, it made me pretty sick afterwords. I was nauseous, and sweaty and my blood pressure dropped quite a bit requiring me to need a lot of IV fluids. The rest of the night was basically miserable, and I'd have to say that the verdict is still out about which I'd prefer if I had to choose again.
I think this picture shows her girth and puffy face. She also likes to grab her face and hold on.

I had this little epiphany when I saw all the kids sitting on the couch; that this was my brood. I feel so grateful to my Heavenly Father for blessing me with 5 beautiful, talented, loving children.
Well, I just ran out of time. The rest of the pictures are from the trip home from the hospital, and the first couple of days at home. Life is full and busy, but we are having a wonderful time enjoying Rhyse.
