For the first time since our honeymoon, nearly twelve years ago, Sabina and I took a week-long trip without the children. We traveled to San Juan Island, in the Puget Sound. Our experience there was very sweet, and even sacred. I have a few thoughts to share:
First, off-season travel brings unique rewards. We lived like the locals while there, and enjoyed the slow pace of this little town, Friday Harbor. Very few tourists. Most of our activities were done in very small company, if any at all.
Second, the man or woman who opens a good Mexican restaurant in Friday Harbor will make a killing. Note, I said GOOD Mexican. We native Eastern Washingtonians know good Mexican.
Third, I think that Skagit Valley, Washington in springtime is one of the most picturesque places in the world.
Fourth, if I ever want to see Sabina experience child-like wonder, curiosity and excitement, all I need to do is find a rocky beach with plenty of tide pools for her to explore. Nature is her Disneyland.
Fifth, life is about relationships. And eternal life is about two relationships in particular: my relationship with my God, and my relationship with my wife. There is nothing so satisfying, sweet, peaceful, or exalting as experiencing God's love together with my best friend.

Craig, I admire what a wonderful husband and father you are!
Love you!!
Craig,
Not only should Sabina's heart be just about bursting right now, but as your kids get older and reread that, they are going to love having record of how their father felt about their mother.
What beautiful pictures!
Amazing pictures!!! What a wonderful experience.
