We began by spending a night and a day in Bear Lake, where Sabina and her beloved participated in the Bear Lake Brawl sprint triathlon. The race began with a half mile swim in the turquoise waters of Bear Lake. Neither Sabina nor the author had done any training in open water. The combination of wearing an extremely tight wet suit that made you feel as if it was eating you alive, kicking and being kicked by competitors, and not being able to see clearly underwater made the experience memorable and anxiety-producing. The 12 mile bike ride and 5k run followed. Sabina beat the benevolent author by 30 seconds, maintaining her nearly perfect record against him. An examination of their respective times reveals that the author took nearly three times as long in his transitions between events. In other words, it took the author much longer to get out of his wetsuit and into his biking and running gear.
Author's note to self: Wear only the speedo and tennis shoes next year. Any embarrassment will be swallowed up by the thrill of victory.
We spent the rest of the day on the beach with the kids. We then spent a couple of days with Grandma and Grandpa Harrison. Many thanks to them for watching the children during the triathlon.
We were then off to spend a few nights in a lake cabin located just north of St. Anthony, Idaho. On the way there, we stopped at Bear World.
We had a ball with the children. We got our fill of canoeing, kayaking, frog catching, going on walks, reading, and fishing. Our oldest two also spent some time paddling for their lives from a log in the middle of the lake that looked an awful lot like a crocodile.

Congratulations on completing the triathlon. That is a huge accomplishment. The vacation sounded really fun. I loved Capriel's dive and summersaults in the water on the previous blog entry.
Congrats you guys!!!! That is aweseome!!! I know it is a lot of work. My husband and I did our first one together this last June. It is kind of a tradition for us no. It sure gets you whipped into shape fast alternating workouts! Misty (Layton) Meldrum
Congrats. Sounds like you're ready for the Olympic length triathalon now. And congrats on another year where you actually pulled off a family vacation. You're an inspiration to us all.
That sounds awesome! The uh vacation, not the triathlon. Congrats on your times! I heard they were great.
I second Derek's comment.
