The kids had a day off Monday. We went to Willow Zoo, a small zoo with mostly native animals.. We had a picnic (Breck made her famous cheesy noodles which we carried in their original pot into the park) and enjoyed the gorgeous weather and animal watching. I think our favorites were all the ducks (of course for Breck) and the peacocks. We then went to Gossner's to grab some samples and try once again to see them making their cheese. That night we went to the Federation's honors string recital. It was very late and a little long for the little girls, but the playing was impressive and inspiring. Talia was so upset when we left a little early.
Breck has been working with Brigette on a possible job. Brigette has been training her on how to start a business. They are considering a delivery bakery company. This picture shows her with her two sample breads that she is taking around to the neighbors for a taste testing. They are taking it very seriously.
Here's a before on the back of the house. Saturday we borrowed Grandpa's truck and with his help, and the kids help and chains and water we managed (barely) to haul all 16 barberry shrubs away. It was hard very prickly work, and the hurricane gale that was blowing made everything that much more exciting. Especially when trying to put the tarp over the trailer! I probably could have gone for quite a ride if I'd just gone with it. The mud was so heavy. Lifting the shrubs taxed me to my limit. Thank you Craig and Grandpa! We are all glad to be done with those pokey plants, and Breck and I are excited to grow our cottage garden there. We're thinking, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and whatever flowers are cheap and sound fun.
Talia and Capriel spent a lot of time in the back of the truck while we pulled stump after stump out. It was a fun adventure.
A couple of after shots. It is pretty messy and muddy right now, and we really messed up a bunch of sprinklers, but we love how it looks and see a lot of potential.

Breck and I also took an outing to a feed store to look at all the baby chicks and pick out seeds to start inside. We had a good time just enjoying such a unique store. Nothing quite like that in Centerville. I loved being out with her and watching her enthusiasm for the chicks and her interest in everything around her. She is a lot of fun.
Landen went into the dr. again this week. He needs to be on his crutches for another couple of months. No running, jumping, etc,...but the dr. did encourage him to really try to stay in shape. We need to start swimming or biking. Thanks to everyone who has and continues to pray for him. He needs it. It is hard now that the weather is so beautiful to not be active. This week Landen did the scout activity where you jump in fully clothed and have to undress and try to make a floatation device out of your clothes. He is loving his older scout troop.
We have had some absolutely gorgeous weather. The kind where you just HAVE to drop everything and go outside. The kids have played so hard that they nearly drop over at night. Rhyse one morning slept till like 9:30am!

I love that shot of Landen holding the dog. Something about his face turned to the side and the look of focus--looks like a handsome guy to me!
You are always so great to get those projects started...and completed! I can't wait to see what beauty you make of it.
Tell Landon that Eli always remembers to pray for his knee.
