The two neighboring elementary school have an ongoing softball tourney for their 5th graders. Each school has their own tourny to determine the best 5th grade class; then the two schools top class play each other at a park with all the other classes their to cheer on their respective team. We decided to let Landen participate if he played 2nd base and promised not to move off the base, and if he batted with a substitute runner. Hence, we had a couple of weeks of passionate bball talk and play at our house. Landen's team made it to this final game. It loooked like it was going to be a easy win, but when the opposing team made a number of runs it took some serious work for their team to win. Landen made an awesome double play that I got to watch. He has had a wonderful teacher this year who makes him feel so special. On to middle school!

True to Breck's character she came home on the last day of school and created a fun welcome to summer sign complete with water balloons, lemonade, music, and flip flops. Turns out we'd figured out when the kids were coming home incorrectly so we ended up waiting a long time, but we still had fun making water balloons and anticipating their arrival.
Below is a beautiful oil painting that Breck has worked on for a couple of months at her art class. She is far from finished and not completely happy, but it displays incredible progress and discipline. She is really loving oils.
