Rhyse has been anticpating her birthday for quite a while. This the first b-day she really got. In preparation for her special day I would ask her questions about what she wanted on her b-day. Usually we get to choose a breakfast, and dinner and treat. All she would reply to my questions was, "cake, chocolate cake, and you will sing to me."
Brigette and her kids came up to make the celebration really a party and we last minute decided to do a Tangled theme. Rhyse has adored the Tangled movie and songs for at least a year. Here is her doing a pose with her long hair braid that Talia made for her. For her b-day this year we decided to take the day off work and have each of the kids choose and be responsible for one activity or game. It was a busy long day, but I truly think Rhyse had a ball. I loved that we were able to do simple things that somehow related to Tangled (at least to a three year old) and call it a party.
One of our activities was to make boats and float them down the canal. We found this simple idea that was super fun to make, took only like 5 minutes and worked for about the same amound of time. Luckily, that was pretty much all it took to get them happy because once they were in the canal, they quickly found other interests (like hunting for snails).
Here is the cake Breck worked on for about a day and a half. I just realized that this is not it's completed form, so I'll put one on later. She is so creative and clever and Rhyse was thrilled with the result. She spent a lot of time simply sitting and looking at her Rapunzel cake. Thanks Breck for being the best big sister ever!
Talia and Braden following their boats. Originally I thought we were going to launch our boats and watch them float down the canal, but the kids soon showed me that it is much more fun to be IN the water with them. SHould have known!
