One thing I want to remember about Rhyse is how she substitutes "s" for many letters in her speech. Already most of them are gone, but I was reminded last night when she woke me up in bed by saying, "Mom, I had a seam (dream)." I don't remember any of my other kids using this substitution and I think it is so cute. Rhyse has also begun her reading program and is so cute with it. I'm trying to do things a little different this time around and I'm hoping for improved results and overall experience. I'm trying to adopt a more Eastern approach where I participate more in the experience. I'm trying to focus more on her writing skills and just helping her with more reps and "sensory" experiences so that she learns to "feel" her letters and sounds. For instance, instead of me showing her how to write an "m" one time and then asking her to try 5, I'm trying to hold her hand and help her feel 5 and maybe ask her to try one on her own. We are looking at the letter "e" and trying to see the "smile" in it and then making our mouth smile to make the sound. We'll see how it works. She has the cutest little pencil hold, laying the pencil on her "little pillow" and then pinching it with her three fingers. It is fun to finally be moving to a new stage of learning her.
