Craig and I were talking last night about how life seems to be moving so
quickly that once the day is over-our memories of the past events seem
to be located in the dark recesses of our mind-like the even happened
weeks ago. I think we are so focused on just making it from one event
to the next, that once an event is completed we are mentally and
emotionally only able to move to the next event. A problem? Probably--
but who has time to think about that right now:)
Rhyse and I are still working on her room. Here are a few old shots of her helping me cover the beautiful mauve spongepainting! She is a great helper!Super blurry, but I thought it'd be fun to document Lan and is sleeping partner. He and Pepper can be found together in all sorts of crazy arrangements when I go in to check on them or wake them up. THey are sure good buddies. I think Pepper even like KIX 96.6FM! He and Lan spend lots of time playing fetch, and keep away with the ping pong (Pepper loves a good ball game and always comes and watches the ball move as the kids play, barking and trying to get involved)
Rhyse has begun our reading program and is on lesson 12! She loves to practice and especially likes to write. Counting the Reeces at the end is an added bonus.
Here are the girls helping with a little project for Rhyse's room. We cut scrapbook paper up and modge podged them on cardboard letters. It was a fun project and so colorful. Capriel especially loved to help with the cutting!
Lan and Breck had their first swim meet this week. THey did awesome! We were so proud of their guts and courage to try something brand new. Our eyes were opened to a new world-competitive swimming! A few things we learned from our first meet.
It is easy to get DQ. Relays are fun! Some people are REALLY REALLY Fast! We want to get faster and race more! Loud!!! Mom needs to figure out how to sit still for 4 hour stints. Each of the kids had some races they were happy with and some they werent. Breck's freestyle was her best race, and Lan was happiest with his Butterfly. Breck came in second a couple of times in her heats and Lan placed 2, 3, and 4 in his division.
Talia at Scouts with Craig working at the food bank. She loves to be involved in everything!
I'd say one of the highlights of the week was the chance we got to have a fancy dinner and then attend a lecture/concert given by Jon Schmidt. He is a member of the Piano Guys (look them up on Youtube if you haven't before) but has also been performing and writing for over 20 years on his own. He came to speak in a lecture series for the Entrepreneurial club that Craig is on the board for. In fact, Breck recently finished learning his exciting "All of Me" which uses your forearm a couple of times in the peice to play lots of notes at once. We had a great time hearing about how he came to be so successful and learning about the path that he has taken to fulfill his dreams and make a such a difference. I was so impressed with his creativity and guts to take risks and believe in himself.
Overall, a great week. A few sick days for a number of us, but I think we are on the mend. We even saw the blue sky for a few days and hit the mid 40's once! Capriel informed us that the groundhog didn't see his shadow-so I'm holding her to her promise of the approach of spring.
